Duration of use:
The duration of use varies greatly, ranging from many months to a few weeks. What does this mean?
During a long-term test of continuous use, no loss of performance was observed at our office over several months. The lime content of the water during the test was approximately 16 dH, which is relatively high in lime.
The limescale filter pad was replaced every 4 weeks, and the Natura Plus filter cartridge was replaced every 2 months.
However, if you have a lot of sediment, rust, dust, or aggressive limescale, the pores of the UF membrane can become clogged. Since the UF membrane is only partially cleanable, its service life cannot be reliably estimated. It depends on whether the fine pores close.
Since Lotus Vita water filter systems are not hermetically sealed, outdoor use is not officially recommended, as for technical reasons Lotus Vita cannot guarantee bacterial safety for this filter.
LOTUS VITA UF membrane
UF membrane filters the finest particles and also microplastics
and is connected to the Natura Plus filter cartridge as an additional filter stage.
The high-end UF membrane newly developed by Lotus Vita in 2020 has a very small pore size of only 0.2 µm and significantly improves the filter result.
Due to the longer and therefore much more intensive contact with the activated carbon, the ion exchanger and the mineral ceramics, not only are the filter results better, but the taste of the filtered water is also even finer.
Attention: The UF membrane is ideal for use in the Natura Plus 4 liter stand-alone unit; we do not recommend the UF membrane for the filter jugs.

The Natura Plus UF membrane is connected to the bottom of the Natura Plus filter cartridge.
The crystal stone compartment for the filter carafes cannot be used together with the UF membrane because the UF membrane uses the same connection.

How is performance improvement achieved?
The natural force of gravity directs the water through the ultrafine pores.
The laser-perforated hollow chamber fibers retain even the finest unwanted particles; only water and dissolved minerals can pass through.
With a pore size of only 0.2 µm, the filter performance is equivalent to that of the ceramic filter in the Fontana series; this filter traps microplastics, rust, dust and bacteria.

The filtration time is reduced by an average of three times. This gives the filter materials more time to purify the water and enrich it with minerals (in the last layer of the filter cartridge).
The activated carbon purifies the water more intensively and also significantly enhances the drinking experience.
The filter performance is so high that with the housing of the Lotus Natura Plus 4 liter glass bamboo with UF membrane the taste is hardly distinguishable from the large Lotus Fontana 8 liter with advanced filter cartridge!
Due to the very low water pressure, it's possible that a few centimeters of water may remain in the filler tank. With the Natura Plus 4-liter model, you can fill the filler tank to its maximum capacity; the water pressure will then be sufficient to continue filtering your drinking water. Therefore, using the UF membrane in a filter carafe is only possible with the larger models. Please contact our customer service if you have any questions about the compatibility of your housing.
